Why Exit 1 Matters

BurJuman Station is one of just two Red/Green Line interchange stations on the network, and Exit 1 is the most popular station used by those who stay at the hotels in this area or work in the office blocks along Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road. It is also a place where many taxis pick up, and ride-hailing services are available, because it is not just in a concourse area of the mall.

If you are going to the mall, then Exit 3 is the shorter path. Overall, if staying in a hotel or making a consulate appointment or office call along Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, Exit 1 is typically the shorter route.

Exit 1 vs Other BurJuman Exits

There are four numbered exits in BurJuman, all pointing towards different parts of the neighborhood:

  • Exit 1 – Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, next to hotels/offices.
  • Exit 2 — bus stops and taxi pick-up on Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road.
  • Exit 3 — pedestrian access to BurJuman Mall
  • Exit 4 – nearby offices & Commercial buildings, near Al Mankhool Road

Our BurJuman Metro Station Exit 4 guide provides a detailed description of BurJuman Metro Station Exit 4, offering exact street-level access at Exit 4.

History: From Khalid Bin Al Waleed to BurJuman

BurJuman Station was opened on 9 September 2009, as part of the first phase of the Dubai Metro Red Line. In September 2011, the Green Line opened its first two stations on the network, with this station being one of them. It was known as Khalid Bin Al Waleed Station, as its location is directly above the Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road. The RTA renamed it BurJuman as part of a sponsorship agreement between the RTA and the neighboring mall on 13 November 2012.

Don’t assume it is “Khalid Bin Al Waleed” and not “BurJuman” if you get directions based on the old name, as some have been using it for years.

Final Thoughts

Dubai Metro’s two Red/Green interchange stations have a well-connected and practical exit. It won’t take you straight to BurJuman Mall (Exit 3), but for hotels, offices, etc., and for street-level transport links along Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, it is often the most convenient. As with any station exit, the best way to determine your route is to view the signage on the day.
